Characteristics:
- The transmission speed is very fast. Compared to other types of network cables, the transmission speed of the Super Five network cables will be faster, reaching 10 Mbps.
- The manufacturing process is also very good, which can effectively reduce signal interference. Moreover, they are all made of copper wires twisted together, so the electrical conductivity is very good.
- There are many brands sold on the market, so everyone must choose a large brand to ensure the quality of the network cable.
- Suitable for indoor applications
In general, the Custom Optic Fiber Patch Cord has several advantages, such as well overall performance, high-cost performance, and relatively low difficulty in construction and maintenance. Choosing it will not disappoint you.

Basic Fiber Optics Overview
A fiber optic cable consists of five principal components, as illustrated in the adjacent figure. The core, either glass or plastic, is the medium for light travel. The core's size influences the quantity of light or beam diameter entering the fiber. The core's numerical aperture (NA) specifies the range of acceptable incident angles for optimal fiber performance. Surrounding the core, the cladding ensures light retention, preventing leakage and absorption by the rest of the cable. The coating, or buffer layer, safeguards the core and cladding, adding structural integrity. A reinforcing layer, often Kevlar, fortifies the cable against stress-induced damage. Finally, an outer jacket encases the assembly, providing additional protection and strength. The jacket's color typically indicates the fiber type within the cable.
Jacket Color Standards at YCABLE ELECTRONICS
In alignment with industry norms, we utilize specific jacket colors: yellow for Single Mode (SM) fibers, orange for Multimode (MM) fibers, and blue for Polarization Maintaining (PM) fibers. Our custom patch cables can be tailored in any color/fiber combination. Note: Certain Ø900 µm jackets have length limitations, as detailed in our specifications table.
Custom Patch Cable Fabrication
Before opting for a custom cable, consider our extensive range of in-stock patch cables. If our standard options don't match your needs, we can manufacture a custom cable for you.
Fiber Selection at YCABLE ELECTRONICS
We offer four primary fiber types: Single Mode (SM), Multimode (MM), Polarization Maintaining (PM), and Doped. Each type is elaborated on our website, alongside a complete fiber catalog with detailed specifications to aid in your selection. For further assistance, our Tech Support team is available for any queries.
Connector Options
Connectors terminate optical fibers, facilitating swift and effortless connection or disconnection. These connectors align fiber cores to enable uninterrupted light transfer. We offer flat-cleave and six narrow key connector options for our Custom Patch Cables.
Flat-Cleave and Scissor Cut
- The flat-cleave creates a perpendicular break in the fiber for a flat end face, allowing for bare fiber connections, ideal for mechanical or fusion splicing.
- The scissor cut, quicker but less precise, is suitable for users adept in fiber cleaving and intending to add their own connectors.
Connector Types
- FC/PC Connectors: Designed for high-vibration settings, these connectors ensure direct fiber surface contact. They come in variants for SM, MM, and PM fibers, each optimized for minimal back reflection and maximum concentricity.
- FC/APC Connectors: These feature an angled polish to prevent back travel of reflected light. Notably, they are color-coded with a green strain relief boot.
- SMA Connectors: Suited for large core, multimode fibers, available for various cladding diameters.
- ST Connectors: Bayonet-style for quick use, available for both SM and MM applications.
- SC Connectors: Easy-to-use snap-in connectors with pre-radiused ceramic ferrules for reduced back reflections.
- LC Connectors: Compact connectors ideal for dense arrangements, available for both SM and MM fibers.
Each connector type is designed to cater to specific fiber applications, ensuring optimal performance and ease of use.
