- Status: Brand New
- Composition: Durable ABS
- Shade: Black and Green
- Overall Measurement: Roughly 46cm or 18.1 inches
- Pack Weight: Close to 222 grams or 7.8 ounces
- Count: Single piece
- Usage: Fits J1939 to OBD II 9 pin male to female with a 16 pin extended cable for vehicles supporting OBD-II interfaces.
- Attributes: Constructed from robust ABS for enhanced strength. This J1939 to OBD II Converter Cable safeguards against potential interference with the vehicle’s original wiring. Ideal for concealing trackers and electronic devices, while still providing access to the vehicle’s computer for code retrieval and updates. Simplified setup and concealment. Incorporates fundamental diagnostic capabilities based on the J1939 heavy duty truck standard communication guidelines. Suitable for vehicles with a J1939 to OBD II 9 pin male to female interface and a 16 pin extended cable.
- Contents: 1 * Y Adapter Cable for Trucks (1 * 16 Pin Plug, 2 * 9 Pin Connectors (Male & Female))
The unattached end is ideally suited for tailored cable configurations and prototype development. The use of heavy duty materials and precision manufacturing enhances the cable’s flexibility and longevity. Complies with RoHS standards.
This adapter facilitates the connection between the circular J1939 Deutsch 9 pin plug (for testing equipment, connects to the J1939 vehicle) and a 16 pin OBD II female plug (for the vehicle, connects to an OBD II testing plug). The J1939 +/- data lines merge with the CAN +/- lines, alongside the power and grounding lines.
This adapter enables OBD-II diagnostic tools (equipped with the right software) to interface with the circular J1939 plug. It’s important to note that while most OBD II tools and scanners focus on reading PIDs (single parameters), J1939 operates on a PGN-based protocol, where each PGN comprises multiple parameters. Hence, for effective use of this adapter, the diagnostic tool should support PGNs.
In vehicles like trucks or buses offering J1939 data access through pins 3 and 11 on the OBD II plug, this adapter cable is particularly useful.
Specifically, it allows for direct connection of a CAN bus data logger to the standard OBD II plug. Similar to our conventional OBD II adapter, it might provide access to J1939 data or facilitate data requests via OBD II. Nevertheless, some trucks or buses might not offer J1939 data through standard OBD II pins (6 and 14) but through a secondary CAN bus (via pins 3 and 11).
This cable simplifies the process of using a CANedge (dual CAN logger) for connection to both standard OBD II pins (via CH1) and optional J1939 pins (via CH2).
While this adapter cable offers a unique solution for accessing J1939 data in trucks or buses, it's considered more of a niche option compared to others. For example, if a Deutsch 9 pin connector is accessible within the vehicle’s cabin, our J1939 adapter cable is recommended. In the absence of a connector, a CANCrocodile could be an alternative solution.
