How to assemble solar panel cable connectors
Essential Tools and Materials: For assembling MC4 connectors, you will need:
- MC4 Connectors (both male and female types)
- Solar cable (common sizes are 10, 12, or 14 AWG, chosen based on your system's current and voltage)
- A specialized MC4 crimping tool
- An adjustable cable stripper for your cable size
- MC4 spanner or wrench (optional, but useful for securing connections)
- A multimeter to check the connections
Preparing the Solar Cable:
- Measure and cut your solar cable to the needed length, considering your solar panel system's layout.
- Strip about 15-20mm (0.6-0.8 inches) of the outer insulation with the cable stripper, exposing the conductor. Adjust the stripper to avoid damaging the conductor.
